Are you an experienced Design Engineer with the desire to apply your mechanical and electromechanical design experience in a diverse field? Do you have ambition and ability to methodically turn a spark of an idea into a marketable product?
We are seeking an experienced, energetic individual to join a developing company that is growing at an exciting rate. Our client primarily develops, design and manufactures materials handling, product handling, food preparation or stock storage solutions. They will provide freedom for you to apply your design flair and registration of new designs or patents on return on investment devices used in the retail sector. Your responsibilities
You will report to the Engineering Manager, and essentially you will be the owner of product development and be responsible for initiating product concepts, through to delivering detailed designs and drawing packages for quotation or in-house manufacture. Essentially you will lead collaborations with personnel from operations, engineering, and clients in order to deliver design and development solutions. Your duties will cut across new projects and design improvements on existing assets. You will produce design specifications incl. Operator Instruction and Service Manuals for customers. Additional duties will include:
- Ensuring all designs meet Australian/International standards
- Providing updated BOM to Procurement team for sourcing activities and cost tracking
- Updating project documentation and weekly progress reports
Your skills, experience, and qualifications
You will have the ability to quickly establish yourself in the team and seamlessly contribute towards product development projects.
You will need to be well versed with the application of
- Advanced Product Quality Planning phases
- Project management tools incl. Gantt Charts and Issue Tracking
- Leading DFMEA sessions with nominated teams
You will have experience of fostering greats ideas that may come from hand sketches and team discussions and be able to provide us with many examples of this attribute. Throughout the recruitment process you need to demonstrate well-developed interpersonal skills by your responsiveness and communication qualities. Many of your duties will require a high level of people interaction, coordination, and structure therefore leadership qualities, or leadership experience will be of great advantage to your application.
You will
- Hold a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Have excellent Solidworks skills
- A proven high level of analytical and problem-solving skills and
- Be very hands on with a practical approach
- Have an excellent understanding and experience in fabrication and assembly methods.
- Be able to provide appropriate specifications and manufacturing details including BOMs, welding details & machining tolerances, fastener details etc
- Understanding of electronic circuits and programming would be highly regarded
Project Management experience in Automotive engineering would be a major advantage.
In addition, you will need to have good computer literacy in Word, Excel and drawing packages.
